Surf First Aid

Prerequisites: Current SLSNZ member, 14 years of age
Duration 2 days
Description: This course covers the follow topics:
Assessment of emergency situation, basic life support, soft tissue injuries, bleeding, shock, fractures and head injuries, hypothermia, asthma, oxygen delivery systems, burns, and basic drowning physiology.
Advanced Surf First Aid
NZQA Unit standard 29321.
Duration: 3 days + pre learning of approximately 16 hours.
Note: During this course Levels Surf First Aid is refreshed (day 1 only)

Prior to attending this course all attendees are required to complete the workbook which will be sent to you on enrolment.
To complete this you will need to refer to the text Emergency Care for First Responders 2009. This can be purchased from New Zealand Resuscitation Council (NZRC). https://www.nzrc.org.nz/shop/
The workbook must be completed and submitted for marking at least one week prior to the date of training. If attendees arrive at the training session without having completed the workbook they will not be able to attend the training and will need to rebook. (futher fees may apply).
Description: This unit standard is for those people intending to become emergency care first responders and will build on their knowledge and skills of the Surf First Aid training.
