US 15189: Implement a health and safety plan of a workplace

Level 4 (4 credits) Cost: $200.00

This unit standard is for people who need to understand health and safety regulations and apply a prepared health and safety plan to a particular workplace. People credited with this unit standard are able to: identify workplace responsibilities arising out of health and safety legislation; apply a health and safety plan for a specified workplace; report an accident and an occurrence of serious harm in a specified workplace; and prepare to manage emergencies in a specified workplace.

This unit standard is for people working with health and safety professionals to develop and implement a hazard management system. This unit standard is for people who require basic knowledge and skills for the manual handling of goods in the workplace. This unit standard is for people who are working with health and safety professionals to undertake an occupational health and safety audit. People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of New Zealand occupational health and safety management standards; plan an occupational health and safety management systems audit; conduct an occupational health and safety management systems audit; and document and report results of an occupational health and safety management systems audit, for a selected business operation.

US 29315 Describe the role and function of the Health and Safety Representative in a New Zealand workplace.

Level 3 (2 credits) $287.50

The purpose of this standard is for representatives to explain and demonstrate the overall role and functions of a Health and Safety Representative in a New Zealand workplace. Representatives awarded with this standard will be able to: Explain the role and functions of the Health and Safety Representative under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and its Regulations; Explain the role of a Health and Safety Representative as an advocate for workers; Identify the obligations of a PCBU and WorkSafe New Zealand towards the Health and Safety Representative; Describe the risk management process and the importance of communicating with workers and management; Describe and demonstrate the powers and obligations that a health and safety representative has in terms of issuing a provisional improvement notice (PIN) and how and when to direct a worker to cease unsafe work.
