Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) has set new competency programmes.
Any person wishing to obtain a EWRB practicing licence must have attended Board-Approved courses in Electrical Safety and approved instruction in CPR & Basic First Aid.
Links Training in association with Upstage Electrical Training provide a 2-part Electrical Competency Course which meets both these requirements and is approved by the EWRB.
PLEASE NOTE: The First Aid training meets the requirements of the EWRB and is provided in accordance with the New Zealand Resuscitation Council guidelines for CPR Level 2. It does not
meet the minimum requirements for workplace First Aid training.
The EWRB require that during this course of instruction you will be assessed for competency according to your level of knowledge. This is achieved by written/oral testing of regulations/standards and observation of your testing.
The EWRB require formal identification of all attendees so please bring photo identification, e.g. driver's licence or passport.
Electricians or inspectors must bring:
Loop impedance meter
EAS or EST attendees must bring:
Insulation tester (megger)
The course runs for 3 hours and costs $85.00 inclusive of GST.
All electrical workers must hold a current practicing licence to carry out prescribed electrical work. This is a requirement of section 95 of the Electricity Act 1992. To renew a practicing licence you must have passed a board approved competence programme course that includes:
Instruction in CPR
Basic first aid
Links Training and Upstage Productions 2011 Ltd are pleased to offer you the EWRB competence programmes with CPR and Basic First Aid. Please register with Links Training
for your EWRB competency programme, CPR and basic First Aid.
Please note, the Electrical Workers Registration Board no longer lists the First Aid training providers on their website. It currently says ‘Providers of First Aid/CPR tuition who were previously on this list can provide this service in conjunction with one or more of the providers below’.
Any apprenticeship trade training requiring first aid training to complete their apprenticeship will need to complete the minimum of NZQA Unit Standard 6401 & 6402 (equivalent 26551 & 26552) – which is our Elementary First Aid Level 2 Certificate. We believe at Links Training that all high risk workplaces should also complete unit standards 6400 to Manage an emergency situation, before emergency services arrive, so should complete our Advanced First Aid level 3 Certificate.
